Jason Block

Partner & CIO

Jason Block is a Partner and Chief Investment Officer at Freedom 3 Capital and has more than 25 years of experience investing in private credit and equity. Mr. Block became actively involved in investing in private credit and equity in 1995.

Prior to Freedom 3 Capital, Mr. Block was the founding Partner of ICG’s North American investment business. Mr. Block led the North American business for over 5 years. Also, while at ICG, he was the Partner responsible for building ICG’s global Investor Management Group focused on fundraising, communication and other investor matters for all of ICG’s products on a global basis. He grew the team from two people to 13 professionals covering over 250 investors worldwide.

Prior to ICG, Mr. Block was a Partner at AlpInvest where over 6 years, he was responsible for founding and building their global mezzanine platform. Before AlpInvest, Mr. Block worked as a Portfolio Manager for Caravelle, an affiliate of CIBC, where his responsibilities included investing in mezzanine, private equity and high yield. Prior to joining the Caravelle team, he was a Managing Director in CIBC’s Leverage Finance/Sponsor Coverage group. Mr. Block started his career as an investment banker for Kidder, Peabody.

Mr. Block is a member of the Advisory Panel to the Atlantic Conference on Mezzanine & Middle Market Symposium. He has also been an observer or director on the board of numerous companies during his career. Mr. Block received his BA in economics from Colgate University, graduating magna cum laude. He also serves on the Connecticut regional board of the Anti-defamation League.

Daniel Tamkin

Chief Operating Officer, Chief Compliance Officer and Partner

Daniel Tamkin is a Partner and Chief Operating Officer at Freedom 3 Capital and an attorney with more than 30 years of experience managing and serving as a senior executive of portfolio operating companies in the textile, data communications, packaging and furniture industries. Over the course of his career, Mr. Tamkin has held numerous executive and C-suite positions at privately-owned companies.

Previously, Mr. Tamkin was a principal of The Cambridge Towel Company Inc., a leading Canadian manufacturer and marketer of home fashion goods. Mr. Tamkin was also an executive directing mergers and acquisition activity for Darby Group Companies LLC, a family investment holding company with interests in a variety of healthcare companies in the United States and offshore.

Prior to that, Mr. Tamkin was CEO of Synergx Systems Inc., a holding company for fire alarm, security systems integrators, a Director and/or Senior Advisor to Polyair Inter Pack, a leading manufacturer of protective packaging and swimming pool products, and a Director and Executive Vice President of Forum Financial Corporation, a Toronto based merchant banking and private equity group. Mr. Tamkin has an AB from Columbia University and a JD from New York University School of Law. He is on the Executive Committee of the Board of Directors of the Columbia College Alumni Association and a member of the Presidents Circle of Dana Farber Cancer Center.

Erik Glover

Partner

Erik Glover, a Partner and the head of investments at Freedom 3 Capital, has over 20 years of experience investing in levered buyouts, highly structured preferred equity and debt investments in middle market companies. Prior to co-founding Freedom 3 Capital, Mr. Glover facilitated over $800 million of equity and debt investment in 17 companies. He has been an active member of the board of directors of many companies, where he has worked closely with management teams to drive growth, improve profitability, develop executive leadership and execute long-term strategic initiatives.

Most recently, Mr. Glover was a Vice President based in New York for TPG Growth. He focused on investments in the software, healthcare, consumer and cleantech sectors.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Glover was a Principal at Fox Paine & Co. He focused on investments in the industrials, consumer products, agriculture, and healthcare sectors. Prior to Fox Paine & Co., Mr. Glover was an Analyst at Goldman, Sachs & Co. focusing on mergers, leveraged buyouts, recapitalizations, and restructurings. Mr. Glover received his BS in mechanical engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Fred Buffone

Partner

Fred Buffone is a Partner at Freedom 3 Capital and has more than 30 years of experience in middle market finance including sourcing, structuring and syndication of private credit. Mr. Buffone’s primary responsibilities consist of building out the Manager’s senior credit platform, managing relationships with investors in new and existing funds, and syndication of co-investments. Mr. Buffone has been involved with over 100 different companies syndicating several billion dollars of investments.

Prior to joining the Manager in 2016, Mr. Buffone was a Managing Director and Head of Capital Markets for Fifth Street Asset Management where he was responsible for origination of capital markets and club investments, providing market and investment intelligence to the firm and syndication of private credit to co-investors. Mr. Buffone has held similar roles at TD Securities, Jefferies & Company, Berenson Minella & Company and CIBC World Markets, where Mr. Buffone and Mr. Block began their professional career beginning in 1994.

Early in his career, Mr. Buffone was an Analyst at Manufacturers Hanover Trust where he completed their Credit Training Program. Mr. Buffone attended Boston University’s London Internship Program and received his B.S. in Commerce & Engineering from Drexel University.

Brian Block

Partner

Brian Block is a Partner and the head of active engagement at Freedom 3 Capital. He has more than 20 years of experience as a principal investor and senior executive of portfolio operating companies. Mr. Block has deployed approximately $1 billion of capital and completed approximately $5 billion in successful capital markets transactions for the companies. Mr. Block has worked in a range of industries including industrials, healthcare, telecom and retail. He was a member of numerous boards (including chairing a number of committees) working in-depth with management on executing the strategic plans.

Previously, Mr. Block was President and Chief Operating Officer at WireCo WorldGroup Inc., (“WireCo”). Mr. Block began his tenure as the VP of Strategic Analysis for Operations and over a decade working at the Company, held numerous operating roles. Mr. Block led the Company’s worldwide plants in 26 different countries, sales organization in over 119 different countries and had responsibility for financial reporting and analysis, financing and mergers and acquisitions, standard cost management, treasury, domestic and foreign accounting, and all of the statutory reporting requirements. He served as the Chief Financial Officer and prior to his final position as President and Chief Operating Officer. Mr. Block successfully executed the sale of the business to a new private equity firm in 2016 and remained with the business supporting transition to a new management team.

Prior to that, Mr. Block was an investor at Fox Paine & Co. Prior to Fox Paine & Co. he was at CIBC World Markets where he focused on leveraged finance capital markets, mergers & acquisitions, recapitalizations, and private capital placements. Mr. Block received his B.A. in finance from the AB Freeman School of Business at Tulane University.

Aaron Blazar

Principal

Aaron Blazar is a Principal and head of origination at Freedom 3 Capital. He has over 15 years of experience working in investment, strategic consulting, and advisory roles. Mr. Blazar leads Freedom 3’s investment origination efforts and is responsible for due diligence, investment execution, and portfolio monitoring primarily for F3C’s telecom and technology investments.

Prior to joining Freedom 3 in 2019, Mr. Blazar served as an advisor to a single family office where he focused on constructing a portfolio of infrastructure, telecom and technology investments. Previously, Mr. Blazar spent 10 years advising investors, owners and operators on strategy and investment thesis development, as well as conducting due diligence on middle market companies within the telecom and technology space. Mr. Blazar was Senior Partner at Atlantic-ACM, a Boston-based telecom and technology focused strategy firm, where he led the firm’s investor advisory and corporate strategy practice. He founded the firm’s investor advisory practice and supported a broad base of debt and equity investors in the evaluation of transactions and development of value creation strategies. Mr. Blazar advised clients on issues such as M&A target identification, acquisition due diligence, transaction analytics, and growth strategy.

Mr. Blazar received his B.A. in economics from Colby College.

Kathryn Kantarian

Principal, Investor Relations

Kathryn Kantarian is a Principal at Freedom 3 Capital focused on the firm’s investor relations and marketing efforts. She has 15 years of experience in investor relations, project management, communications and public relations. Throughout her career, Ms. Kantarian has worked on a variety of investment strategies and fund structures within private equity, real estate and private credit.

Prior to joining Freedom 3 Capital, Ms. Kantarian was a Principal at Blackstone within the Real Estate Institutional Client Solutions group. She previously served as Head of Investor Relations at CI Capital, a middle market private equity firm. Prior to CI Capital, Ms. Kantarian spent eight years at Siguler Guff & Company, a multi-strategy private equity investment firm, as a Principal and the Director of Investor Relations. While at Siguler Guff, she led a team of experienced professionals responsible for servicing the firm’s 1,600+ institutional and individual investors.

Ms. Kantarian began her career at Thomson Reuters, formerly Thomson Financial, where she held various sales, account management and client service positions. She graduated from the University of Virginia, where she received her B.A. in Sociology and Spanish.

Joe Seybuck

Chief Financial Officer

Joe Seybuck is a Certified Public Accountant and the Chief Financial Officer at Freedom 3 Capital. Mr. Seybuck has more than 20 years of experience in public accounting specializing in accounting and tax services. Mr. Seybuck’s experience includes working with investment funds as well as other businesses in a wide range of industries. Mr. Seybuck is responsible for the back-office functions of the firm, such as overseeing the preparation of financial statements and tax returns for the funds and investment vehicles.

Prior to joining F3C, Mr. Seybuck held the position of Senior Manager at Prager Metis CPAs, where in addition to his regular responsibilities, helped guide the firm through an acquisition and held a position on the personnel and scheduling committee which assisted in the management of the firm. Mr. Seybuck graduated from Rutgers University, earning a B.A. in Economics and from Kean University earning a M.S. in Accounting.

Josh Zucker

Controller

Josh Zucker is a Certified Public Accountant and the Controller at Freedom 3 Capital. Mr. Zucker has 15 years of experience in public accounting specializing in the financial services industry assurance practice. His experience includes working with a variety of investment companies. Mr. Zucker is actively involved in the firm’s back-office functions.

Prior to joining F3C, Mr. Zucker held the position of Senior Manager at CohnReznick, where in addition to his regular responsibilities, he was a member of the best practices committee for the financial services assurance niche. Mr. Zucker graduated from the University of Connecticut, earning both a B.S. and an M.S. in Accounting.

Michael Andrews

Director of Compliance

Michael Andrews is the Director of Compliance at Freedom 3 Capital. Mr. Andrews has over 10 years of compliance experience at investment firms of various sizes. His experience includes working across multiple asset classes and with a variety of client types.

Prior to joining Freedom 3 Capital, Mr. Andrews held the role of Chief Compliance Officer at Nordea Investment Management North America, the U.S. based operation of Nordea Asset Management. Previously, he was the Chief Compliance Officer at Barrett Asset Management, an investment advisor for individuals, families, trusts and institutions. Before joining Barrett Asset Management, Mr. Andrews held positions of rising seniority at institutional asset managers including TimesSquare Capital Management and Brookfield Asset Management. He graduated from Fordham University, earning both his M.B.A. and B.S.

Lauren Luallin

Vice President

Lauren Luallin is a Vice President at Freedom 3 Capital and has 8 years of experience in private equity investing and investment banking.

Prior to joining F3C, Lauren was an Associate at Highlander Partners, a Dallas-based private equity firm investing across various industries. While at Highlander, Lauren focused on analyzing potential investment opportunities, performing company valuations, supporting the day-to-day activities in the transaction process, and worked with portfolio companies on strategic initiatives.

Prior to Highlander, Ms. Luallin worked as an Investment Banking Analyst on Citigroup’s Industrials team. Lauren graduated with distinction from the University of Kansas, where she received her B.S. in finance and accounting.

Daniel Lopez

Senior Associate

Daniel Lopez is a Senior Associate at Freedom 3 Capital and has over five years of experience handling due diligence, legal documentation, and execution of corporate and securities transactions.

Prior to joining F3C, Mr. Lopez was a Corporate Paralegal at Morrison & Foerster LLP, a leading international law firm. At his prior firm, he assisted clients in high-profile mergers & acquisitions, private equity, and capital markets transactions totaling over $15 billion. Mr. Lopez graduated from Cornell University, earning a B.A. in Economics and Government.

James Pyle

Senior Associate

James Pyle is a Senior Associate at Freedom 3 Capital and has 5 years of experience in private equity and investment banking.

Prior to joining F3C, Mr. Pyle was an Associate with Tailwater Capital, a Dallas-based private equity firm specializing in energy infrastructure investments. While at Tailwater, he focused on analyzing potential investment opportunities, supporting portfolio company management teams with M&A, and other strategic initiatives. Prior to Tailwater, Mr. Pyle worked as an Investment Banking Analyst on the Natural Resources team at Barclays.

Mr. Pyle received his BBA in Finance with Specialization in Alternative Asset Management from Southern Methodist University where he was an Academic All-Conference selection on the basketball team.

Seun Adebo

Associate

Seun Adebo is an Associate at Freedom 3 Capital and has over four years of experience in private credit and investment banking.

Prior to joining F3C, Mr. Adebo was an Associate based in New York at Antares Capital, a Chicago-based private credit firm focused on sponsor-backed middle market investments. While at Antares, he focused on underwriting, structuring, and managing private debt and equity co- investment transactions across a variety of industries.

Prior to Antares, Mr. Adebo worked as an Investment Banking Associate in the Structured Finance group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch. He started his career as a Sales & Trading Analyst on the Cash Equity Trading desk at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Mr. Adebo holds a B.S. in Finance from Indiana University’s Kelley School of Business.

Michael Hickl

Associate

Michael Hickl is an Associate at Freedom 3 Capital. Prior to joining F3C, Mr. Hickl was a Valuation Analyst at Kroll where he conducted asset and business valuations for clients in the energy industry.

Mr. Hickl graduated with honors from the University of Texas, Dallas, where he earned a B.S. in Finance and a minor in Accounting.

Victor Ceausu

Associate

Victor Ceausu is an Associate at Freedom 3 Capital and has over three years of experience in financial consulting and public accounting.

Prior to joining F3C, Mr. Ceausu was an Associate at Deloitte on the M&A Transaction Services and Financial Restructuring teams. While at Deloitte, he focused on due diligence execution, debt refinancings and portfolio company improvement across a wide range of industries. Prior to Deloitte, he worked in the Audit department at Ernst & Young (EY).

Mr. Ceausu received his BBA in Finance from Polytechnic University of Valencia in Spain.

Jason Vitelli

Office Manager

Jason Vitelli is the Office Manager for the two Freedom 3 Capital office locations. Mr. Vitelli has over 15 years of administrative experience working in finance and a varied skill set that includes file management, CRM programming, Helpdesk, HR support, and graphic design. In addition to day-to-day operations, his current responsibilities also include supporting the fundraising and operations teams.

Prior to joining Freedom 3, Mr. Vitelli worked as an Administrative Consultant with various firms. His first role at AlpInvest Partners coincided with Jason Block’s tenure in 2005. In the subsequent years, he assisted with the transfer of operations to The Carlyle Group during the AlpInvest acquisition. Mr. Vitelli received his M.M. from New York University and his B.A. in Music from Binghamton University, where he graduated magna cum laude.
